Mountain Dulcimer Clubs
Barbara F. Gregory

Music is one of the greatest joys in life, and there is no better way to enjoy music than to make your own. It is even better to get together with others and play and sing. I have heard people say, "But I don't read music and can't sing well." Many of the members of my dulcimer club don't read music or sing at all. But they don't have to because others will do the singing and we play by number! The club I have belonged to for many years has started many people playing music. And we entertain at nursing homes, festivals, churches, and other events. We don't have to play like professional musicians to have the audience fall in love with us. They fall in love with us because we are all having a terrific time!

Below is information about more than forty dulcimer clubs gathered from participants of Sweet Music Digest. Perhaps there is a club near you. But remember, this list is nowhere near complete! So if you don't find one here, check the larger list at Dulcimer Players News. If there is no club there for you, start one and let us know; we'll put it on the list!

Barbara Gregory is a musician living in Ohio. To learn more about Ms. Gregory, see the Contributors section of Sweet Music Index.
